JENNY’S TIPS, TRICKS AND TRENDS: EDIT YOUR INTERIOR

Much like your wardrobe, your home will work best through the seasons and years to follow if you choose great staple pieces that can be layered and accessorized with time. Think about your favourite jacket, suit or pair of heels… How long have you had these items and how many times have you had them repaired or tailored or… often wishing you’d bought two of them? Just like your wardrobe, investing more in staple pieces will help you down the track.

The best thing you can do, to get the look you want is … “do less!” So, my advice would be to show restraint, remove clutter, throw away or donate pieces you no longer like or need. Go on – I challenge you to remove that 5th cushion on that 2 Seater lounge that you “so desperately need” (wink wink)

Once this is achieved you’ll get a clearer picture of what you need and can therefore go out and buy the smaller pieces that you actually want. Making informed decisions will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and is really the essence of where all good design starts.
